I had the pleasure of working with Rupert on a project for global brand Toyota, recently. His understanding of the brief of the need to connect with the reader was key for the client as they were experiencing challenges in perception. Rupert’s sensitivity toward these challenges enabled him to deliver engaging articles that readers enjoyed and will contribute to a higher level of affinity with the brand in the years to come. He worked with great passion and commitment throughout the project and with great speed.

Rupert is a pleasure to work with and is our favourite go to copywriter!  He’s passionate about his work, always getting the relevant points across in the brand’s tone of voice.  Whether it’s writing marketing collateral or for social media he totally understands what’s needed and adapts with ease. We were asked to help with World Wish Day 2015 and use it as a Launchpad for the new #iwishican global communication strategy for Make-A-Wish International. We needed copy for a dedicated website (http://iwishican.org) and the social media content strategy to be developed for the client. As this was a global campaign, the copy needed to be simple and effective and easily translated across multiple languages in over 50 markets. Rupert understood and highlighted to the client that no English idioms and ‘soundbites’ could be used as had been the case before. This insight was used as the framework for the tone of voice, the brand and the campaign and it was successfully rolled out around the world.

With our charity client we were putting together a paradigm shifting campaign in association with UK government, which would rely heavily on strong imagery and compelling language. The client needed to tell the story of the children affected by orphanages in West Africa in a concise yet empathetic way to garner support for their work. Because of Match Aid funding, there was a need to donate during a precise three month appeal period meaning that there was an urgency that had to be conveyed as well. Rupert managed to get to the crux of the matter and put together a clear, concise and caring tone of voice that worked across social, digital and traditional media resulting in the donations target being smashed, which of course delighted the client (and us).

We always love working with Rupert when we need copy for a client project, because we know what we are going to get from him even before we pick up the phone. Rupert has a line of questioning around any brief that really gets to the heart of the matter, he then continues his research to formulate a tone of voice for the client that can be used for all communications throughout their campaign. Rupert doesn’t just write copy, he creates a tailorable brand tone of voice, which is definitely his greatest skill and why we always turn to him first, whatever the client.

Rupert is an excellent copywriter. He immerses himself in his subject matter in order to gain a holistic and thorough understanding of a client’s products, services and target audiences. Rupert’s passionate and focused approach to his work enables him to translate complex technical concepts into a variety of formats depending on the audience, usually under very tight deadlines. At SocialFuel we often have to deliver solutions at short notice and Rupert consistently works with our team to produce clear key messages with the correct tone for the project at hand. Rupert’s friendly attitude, sense of humour, and commitment has led to him becoming a trusted member of the SocialFuel team.
